OSITH RAMANATHAN

Osith has over 25 years of multi-industry experience in both international advisory and management roles. Ostara Capital, which has its roots in a business he founded in 1996, advises companies in their expansion through private equity & other forms of investments or enabling business partnerships, including direct involvement through shareholdings, advisory roles and directorships.

Prior to this, he was with GE Capital Southeast Asia with regional responsibilities for Business Development and also with the Southeast Asia Representative Office of AIG Capital Corporation, covering Project Finance and Direct Investments. He had started his career with Sembawang Engineering in a Marketing position, and later with Neptune Orient Lines covering International Equipment Management.

From 1997 till 2008, he served as Managing Director of a trade and investment advisory he founded. Through mandates awarded he assumed multiple roles as Director of the ASEAN Office for the Office of International Business Development, Department of Community & Economic Development, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA (1997-2008), Director of the ASEAN Office for Trade & Investment for the Technology, Trade & Commerce Agency, State of California, USA (2000-2003) as well as, Singapore Trade Representative for the International Business Development Office, Department of Community & Economic Development, State of Utah (1997-2007).

Through his present capacity, he continued as the Authorized Representative of the Saarland Economic Promotion Corporation, Germany (since 1998) as well as the Regional Trade Consultant covering Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, USA (2007-2013) and Representative of the Federal Council of Investments of Argentina (2012-2013).

After completing his early education in Raffles Institution, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore, a Graduate Diploma in Financial Management from the Singapore Institute of Management and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the London Business School. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport as well as a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors (having sat on the Diversity & Board Appointments Committee) and held office at the London Business School Alumni Club. He has also been admitted as a member of MENSA (UK). He is conversant in other regional languages such as Malay/Bahasa Indonesia.
